Chicago Blackhawks

“Oh say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light…”

Game 1 of the 2016-2017 Stanley Cup playoffs, I was down on the ice 30 minutes before the puck dropped. This was without a doubt the biggest crowd of people I’ve ever worked in front of, so not dropping the brand-new, $30,000 8x6K camera on the ice was a victory.

Three minutes before puck drop, the house lighting engineer told me that they were going to use an entirely different lighting program than what we rehearsed earlier. Suddenly, I had to adjust guess exposure values, otherwise the whole trip would end up as a huge bust.

I’m happy to share that, with years of experience and a fair amount of luck, I nailed the exposure, and the video turned out great.
